We visited as an adult family party of five, the menu was comprehensive including an extensive specials board and we all chose different items. All were prepared and presented to... read more a high standard. I chose sole with mango chutney and banana mainly because I'd never seen it on a menu and the combination was brilliant! Desserts lived up to the standard of mains and my poached rhubarb with orange curd and vanilla yogurt was divine.
For the standard of food prices were exceptionally reasonable and the ambiance in the old church is tremendous. Completely recommend and as a local will be returning. Thank you Willie and team!

Very reasonably priced for the quality and the homemade freshness of everything from the breads through to the desserts are visible at every turn.
Great experience not to be missed.

This is our second visit to Blairgowrie and out 3rd visit to Littles. If you enjoy fish the is THE place. We started with the squidd rings and olives appetiser,... read more then He had whitebait -loads of them and delicious - I chose 2 cod dishes from the tapas menu which were superb, light and crisp and very good indeed, we both had turbot to follow - served on a bed of parsnip puree it was a match made in heaven, also served with leeks and a confit potato. We were quite wicked and He had a pudding and i had the cheeseboard, he wouldn't let me taste his pudding and I can't remember what it was but the cheeses were an excellent selection with home made oatcakes and chutney plus some apple slices and grapes. I had a very tasty Pinot Grigio, and He [the driver] had a couple of alcohol free beers. The whole meal was beautifully cooked, the service was excellent, and I have no doubt that we'll be back on our next visit to Blairgowrie.

Initially very surprised on entering the restaurant as the lights were so bright that it ruined any chance of a lovely atmosphere in what is a beautiful building.
After... read more being seated we waited for almost 20 minutes before the waiter came to take our drinks order. I told him we were ready to order food and he said he would have to go and check with the chef. I’m not sure what he had to check or why he had to check before we ordered as it was very quiet.
He disappeared and a waitress turned up shortly afterwards and took our order.
Our starters appeared promptly. My squid was covered in what can only be described as flour and water paste that was fried. It was very bland. My girlfriend had the scallops which were good.
The mains were not great. My crispy halibut was tiny and the chips were truly terrible. Think soggy palid school dinner chips. The side dish of chard was lovely but overall the meal was poor.
My girlfriend’s cod curry with rice looked like a plate of dog sick and had a massive bone in it which was unexpected and she wouldn’t have chosen it if she had known it was served like this. I ended up swapping with her. It tasted ok but looked grim.
The service was terrible with the exception of the guy that brought the drinks who was very efficient. But he wasn’t taking the drink orders so we were sat drinking water for half the time.
It’s such a shame because it could be really good. Sort out the lighting. Lose the awful pink walls and develop some cohesion with the waiting staff. They were all friendly but not very good at selling food and drinks.
On the plus side the fish was all fresh and it’s very reasonably priced.

Great restaurant in converted church. Great menu . Mainly fish but steak or schnitzel on menu. Lovely staff.
Nice atmosphere with a fire in the bar where we ate.

We hadn't read any reviews or had any recommendations for this restaurant. We picked it because it was close to where we were staying. So glad we did. The service... read more was friendly and efficient. We took our time and asked that there would be a good period of time between courses. This request was fully met. We had a selection of Tapas dishes before we ordered the starter. They were amazing; as was the rest of the meal. We will be back.

After reading other reviews and realising this is the only restaurant in Blairgowrie we were looking forward to our visit. The exterior is fantastic and what a venue for a... read more restaurant. However the interior is very disappointing firstly the lighting is glaring and way too bright and does nothing to encourage an intimate evening! The colour of the walls is also baby pink a very strange choice and really does not work. We were told only limited items available on the blackboard, starter of crab rarebit was good. However the fish and chips which one would hope would almost be a signature dish of a reputable fish restaurant was very disappointing the haddock was OK but it was overcooked and the chips were of the bought in catering type and were pale and soggy. Why not do proper twice cooked chips! Very limited dessert choice including a rather strange deep fried brownie. Overall very disappointing.

Dec 2 2021. Enjoyed the lofty elegance of the old church, which is warm, bright, tasteful and welcoming. Service was professional, communicative and courteous. Deep fried squid rings starter was... read more perfectly cooked to the nearest second; faultless. Monkfish and prawn skewers had been precisely prepared...by someone who clearly knows the perils of careless monkfish preparation. The menu was varied and inviting; stomachs are not big enough to try all we would have liked. Wine prices reasonable and modest, with no greedy mark-ups. Easy parking, town centre. Will we be going again? Definitely. More

I had the Chocolate brownie corn-dog with vanilla ice-cream and local strawberries for dessert - this was beyond amazing, absolutely incredible and I would thoroughly recommend trying it when you go. The restaurant is based in an old church and this adds to the atmosphere. It was busy when we went yet the staff were attentive and friendly. Heard great reviews about this place and came all the way from Broughty Ferry to visit on Friday 8th October 2021. We ordered our food and drinks. Drinks took ages... read more to come as they were changing the barrel which we were advise of just as the drinks were arriving at our table. The food then arrived which I was just breaded haddock, chips, mushy peas & tartare sauce. We found every part of it very bland. The chips looked like the left overs from a bag of frozen chips. Worst was the waitress, Helen, no welcome smile or interaction with the customers. We declined the offer of a sweet and without having to ask for the bill Helen duly arrived with card payment machine in hand and said "whilst i'm here I will just take payment now" Totally shocked as we were still drinking our drinks and were going to stay for another but that option had been taken away from us. Very rude lady.

During a short break in Blairgowrie we ended up coming to this lovely restaurant on both nights. The choices on the menu were varied and the specials were excellent and... read more offered a range of dishes at different prices. The wine list also offered good choices. The emphasis was on seafood but for those who wanted something else there were very tasty pizzas. We would recommend without hesitation as it catered for those who wanted to have a ‘treat’ meal out and those who just wanted a tasty, good value one with no pretension, unnecessary’frills’. Hope to come again and will recommend to friends too.

We've been coming to Blairgowrie for a couple of weeks every year now for over 30 years and have been lucky to enjoy so many wonderful evenings at Little's... originally... read more in their restaurant in the square and for the past few year in the spectacular church conversion imaginatively and skillfully created by chef proprietor Willy Little who's undoubted skills sourcing and cooking the freshest fish are quite simply second to none... if available try the fresh whole lobster... it's amazing!
A review of Little's wouldn't be complete without mentioning Helen who's warm hospitality running the restaurant and always making us feel so very welcome over the years has been the icing on the cake for what have surely been many special times to remember...

We were staying in Blairgowrie whilst walking the Cateran Trail and dined here one night of our stay. It was truly phenomenal. The setting on the side of the river... read more could not be better. There are other things on the menu but fish is the point of the place and the selection was huge and varied and everything was very fresh indeed. My husband had scallops with haggis to start whilst I had gratin of crab. Both completely glorious, as were our mains, dublin bay prawns and squid. Really cannot recommend this place highly enough, the food, setting and service were amongst the best we have ever encountered.

We are here on the basis of previous reviews and we’re not disappointed. The standard menu was inviting but the specials board was superb. I had 4 large langoustine as... read more a starter and was provided with all the tools needed to get maximum meat from the shellfish. My husband had crab with a rarebit topping and was equally delicious. Our main courses, monkfish with shellfish broth and halibut with mash were excellent. The shellfish broth had lobster, crayfish, mussels, cockles and winkles along with potato rosti and vegetables and unlike many fine dining establishments had enough of each to appreciate.
This is an excellent restaurant and I would highly recommend to anyone around Blairgowrie.

Three of us ate here for the first time last night (we don't live in the area but were staying over in Blairgowrie). We were looking forward to it after... read more watching the you-tube video of the renovation of the building, but even with high expectations we were all impressed. We had a three-course meal, all eating something different, and every dish was excellently presented, superb quality fish, perfectly cooked vegetables. I am only sorry I did not choose the fish of the day, which was the less-common Megrim Sole, but then I wouldn't have had the best monkfish I have ever tasted. It doesn't stop at the fish - even the dessert specials were delicious, and I think it was also the best pecan pie I ever had! The delicious food was complemented by a charming interior of the former church and the service was also a delight - and we had 4 different waiters/waitresses each of whom were attentive, professional and friendly. What more can I say? If I lived in the area I could have been tempted to underscore the restaurant and avoid it becoming too popular to get a table easily. But as I don't, I am happy to share our discovery. This restaurant is a must-try place and I will certainly be back even if I have to find an excuse to be in the area.

Service was attentive, we ate early, restaurant was getting... read more busy by the time we left, clearly popular. First time I have loved Calamari - hubby orders it every opportunity we eat out, and I always have a wee taste. This is the first time I thought it was lovely and would order again. Toilets were so clean and fresh.

Horrendous! Food below par. Overcooked lobster and mackerel full of bones.
When we queried the lobster dish, the chef promptly arrived at our table; was rude, patronising and... read more stuck his hands in my friend’s plate and proceeded to dismantle his lobster in front of him and the whole restaurant in an attempt to show him where the meat was. When challenged as to the Covid risks associated with his actions he nonchalantly said he had prepared the food - It was deliberate and demeaning. He then acknowledged that we were not provided with a lobster hook.
When I challenged one item on the bill - a Mackrell starter which was full of bones - he falsely accused me of refusing to pay the whole bill and when corrected tried to appease us by offering free drinks which we refused. The staff were exemplary and were profusely apologetic on his behalf. It’s such a pity the chef felt the need to treat us so abysmally! We have never had an experience where the chef shamed customers in this way.
Needless to say, we will not be returning and would not recommend.

August 12, 2021
This is a lovely restaurant in a converted church which has retained many of the features. The food is superb and the choice of fish dishes is amazing. We had... read more crab starters, skate and catfish for mains and I had a dessert. Each course was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant, you certainly will not be disappointed. The staff were exceptional. Great place.

August 1, 2021
Average food, but overpriced for what it is. Oysters were the best part of the meal, just because of the freshness and quality of the ingredient itself.
Starters were... read more nice, we both had the Scottish cured mackerel but the topping, I couldn't even taste the crispy pork skin, and the dill oil was barely on the plate, and there was only one measley piece of Melba toast. My main was a bit of a let down; though the monkfish was well cooked the oxtail stew it sat on was overly sweet, for the price a very small portion, similar size to the main. My partners main looked much better in terms of volume, he had a fish of the day with almond topping. Atmosphere was very lacking, and there was a pointless bright white light above the toilet entrance that kept coming on every time someone entered. Wouldn't recommend for a romanic meal because of this. At the prices being charged, the food wasn't good enough.

We enjoyed this place so much, we booked for the following night. Start to finish food was fabulous as were the wines. We ate only fish, there are some non... read more fish dishes too. Restaurant is within a renovated church which provides an amazing setting. The menu is primarily fish and is extensive. I had bisque followed by sea food risotto, both superb. My... read more partners dessert deserves a mention to, it was a duo of iced chocolate mouse which she stated was the best sweet she had ever tasted, high praise indeed. The service and attention to detail from the staff matched the overall excellence of the restaurant.

Very good fish restaurant in converted church. This was our third visit, this time with family, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is always busy which is a good... read more sign, and there is a daily specials menu. Booking is pretty essential.
We love the smoked haddock tart to start with and this time I enjoyed monkfish.
One of our party opted for the Crayfish which was delicious, buttery and garlicky but messy to eat. Be warned! Wines are reasonably priced and staff are efficient.
We plan to return. The long drive (over thirty miles) from Brechin is worth it as it is far superior to other fish restaurants nearby in Arbroath.

July 22, 2021
We have enjoyed previous meals but this experience was a little underwhelming which was disappointing as this was our first proper meal out since COVID lockdown. We both enjoyed a... read more super starter of langoustines My main course was actually very good but my wife’s was disappointing She chose Scallops but when it arrived it was cold not helped by the topping of barely thawed frozen peas! This on a dish costing £21
What was particularly irksome was the attitude of the manager who was somewhat offhand claiming that the dish was meant to be served cold and basically implied my wife was making a fuss about nothing. However to be fair a replacement was provided which was a more appetising temperature. Nonetheless using frozen peas in an expensive dish was a disappointment and not up to previous standards.
We also felt the desert menu was very limited for choice.
Previous experiences would have resulted in 5 stars, but only 3 this time. Hopefully a one-off

Perfect restaurant for the seafood lover. Amazing delicious lunch, would highly recommend, to my surprise banana definitely works with sea bass...

July 12, 2021
Ate here during a 2 day visit to Blairgowrie. The amuse-bouche of squid, olives and oysters were nice. I then had lobster bisque and my wife had lobster terrine. The... read more bisque was more like tomato soup with some flakes of lobster and a couple of crab claws, not what I would consider lobster bisque. The lobster terrine was nice and we both enjoyed it. I then had seafood tagliatelle and my wife had baked halibut. Seeing as they promote lobster I would have expected some lobster or crab in the tagliatelle but it consisted of fish and salmon , there were not even any prawns. It was nice but not a mixed seafood dish. The baked halibut skin was burnt but the fish was nice.
The service was good and the atmosphere was good. However just as we were leaving some little insects dropped from high above on to our table. The venue is a converted church with high ceilings so that may be the reason. We would think twice before eating here again.

July 3, 2021
My walking buddy and I were looking forward to eating here on our last night after walking the Cateran Trail.
We had a little preview in the afternoon as... read more we'd arrived in Blairgowrie earlyish and of course it is compulsory to sit and drink some alcohol at the end of a long distance walk. We sat outside and were able to admire the converted church from the outside and look at the changing blackboard menus with mounting excitement.
Back there in the evening for dinner and of course inside this time. The Covid precautions were good. The menus majors on seafood but there are other things too. The atmosphere was nice and service was friendly and speedy. We both had fishy starters and main. I can't remember what I had for the starter but I had halibut for the main - it was good but maybe just a wee tad dried out, though I think halibut can be prone to this. My companion had the crab tart and scallops as I remember and loved them both.
Prices were reasonable given the quality of the fish and the fact that it is an expensive item in the first place.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit and the food and would certainly return and recommend it to others! I can't imagine there is a better place to eat in Blaigowrie!
