Superb food in a great atmosphere - We had lunch at Little’s and we’re so impressed. Disappointment over conflicting closing times leading to restricted meal... - Attend on Wednesday evening arriving at 8.10pm ahead of two friends from Glasgow who were keen to have a meal at Littles. Met by member of staff who failed the... read more smile or greet test and appeared unnerved at a customer arriving. Explained I wished a table for three, with the two friends arriving at 8.20pm, seated at a table but approached five minutes later by the same staff member and told if we didn't order within a few minutes then they would be closing. I expressed my surprise and pointed out the official Website for Little's states 11pm closing and I had friends who had travelled from afar, they then arrived exactly on time during this conversation and were seated with me. In view of the reluctance of staff we decided to order a main course only, forsaking a starter and dessert, to the loss of the Restaurant. The food quality cannot be faulted and was most enjoyable, however the taste in the mouth of feeling we had overstayed a private party unbeknown to Joe Public was the main flavour that lingered. I wondered who was doing who a favour, the staff or the customer? No point having 8pm closing time only on Trip Advisor but not on the main Website! Even though I mentioned this disparity at the time, I notice there has been no update to it? I was very disappointed for my friends curtailed dining experience and remain unimpressed with the lack of interest in preventing any such future incident from Little's. Confirm opening times before booking would be my advice and take a pinch of salt for good luck...

2nd visit such a shame no where near as good as 1st one - Really gutted to have to write this review. We came to Blairgowrie during covid and found littles restaurant, we had a fantastic meal and great service. Unfortunately that could not... read more be said this time round. We took 6 of us for dinner tonight, we had already raves about our last visit here to my in-laws. Meal booked for 7pm, shown to our table and asked about drinks, all started off ok until it got to our main courses. First mistake I ordered haddock and they brought out halibut. My husband ordered skate wing and father in law ordered dover sole, waitress got these wrong and gave my husband dover sole and father in law skate wing (this became apparent half way though when my husband looked at the menu and it was dover sole that had almonds on it (thank god he’s not got a nut allergy). They did replace mine but I had to wait, we also ordered a steak that didn’t show up until after my meal had been replaced by which time most of the others had finished. My husband did tell the guy about the mix up but nothing was done.. we then found out other tables had been given a basket of bread on arrival, we did wonder why we had butter on the table and side plates. Obviously we were important enough to get bread. Not at any point did anyone ask if we had enjoyed our meals. Gutted considering our bill was over £240 (not an issue with the amount if the service had been there). It was our recommendation and we had told my in-laws how good it was but I have to say tonight they really disappointed and I’m not sure if I would recommend it return after this experience which I’m gutted about as our first visit was amazing. Six gutted customer’s

A superb dining experience in a unique setting - I've eaten at a lot of good seafood restaurants across the world and this place is right up there. A unique setting in a converted church, the dining room is... read more huge, vaulted and comfortable. We started with deliciously fresh oysters from a local loch. Starters of crab and langoustines were perfectly balanced and tasted wonderful. Our mains of a monkfish in ham and skate wings were copious and delicate. The ridiculously indulgent corndog brownies with a cherry compote proved the real skill in the kitchen.
Literally can't fault this place. Worth travelling to if you're in the area, although make sure when booking what time the kitchen closes - as we were finishing our meal a party from Glasgow arrived to be told they had five minutes to place their order.
Thanks for a great evening's dining!

We were having a two night break in Blairgowrie and had booked for the second night of our stay. On the first day we were struggling to find anywhere for... read more a late lunch and as Littles own Facebook page states they are open 11 to 11 we ventured in. However the guy on duty rather dismissively in formed me that they were shutting till 5 pm.
I therefore booked a table at 5 pm.
On our return the young waiter led us to our table and at first told us he would have to check with the chef if food was available. It was 5.10 at this time and when I looked at my watch he quickly brought menus. We ordered starters and specials from the board. The starters although expensive were fine. The fish specials we received were poor. Especially my monkfish which was a tiny portion of over salted fish on top of a mound of bog standard mash and cabbage. My wife’s fish was nice however was also very small given the price of £28.50.
The restaurant looks great but the prices for the quality and portion size are very poor.
As we were hungry we ate our meals and didn’t complain however we quickly cancelled our reservation for the following evening.
Mistakes can happen and obviously did with the over salted monkfish however the size of the fish portions is inexcusable and is obviously a business decision.

The menu online is a decent general menu catering to all tastes. However, the real magic is the multitude of exquisitely prepared specials. These folks know how to cook! We... read more chose the following starters: mussels, langostines and fish soup. The mussels were plump and tasty, the langostines sweet and cooked just right in a lovely butter sauce. They come split but you will want to use the shell cracker to dig out every succulent morsel. The fish soup was really really good, an excellent Scots version of a French classic. So good my friend said she could have eaten another bowl. The mains were all off the specials board. The prawn risotto is a perfect version, grilling the prawns added so much depth of flavor that after this any other risotto will seem pedestrian. The Megrim special was a giant slab of deliciousness - seriously succulent white fish cooked correctly. I chose the seafood fricassee which was a lovely combo of salmon, white fish in a delicate but flavourful sauce with fresh veg. A delightful bowl of straw chips was shared by all of us to our delight. We watched a stream of delightful desserts be delivered to other tables but in the end only the youngest amongst us had the room left to indulge in a most beautiful slice of frangipani. They advised it was most excellent but didn’t share one little bite. We had good coffee and espresso which came with a proper square of delightful fudge. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, a wonderfully renovated church. Highly recommended. I live on an island and am used to fresh fish and I say go. There are options for non seafood eaters as well but the preparations here are so excellently executed that it would’ve a shame not to experience the cleverness of Mr Littles’ kitchen.

A solid meal at Little's this weekend as we finished our Scottish vacation. We arrived 30 minutes early for a 8:30 p.m. dinner reservation (their only available earlier that day)... read more and were immediately seated with many open tables. Service was friendly if a bit sporadic, especially given the lighter crowd in the bar area where we sat. Fried squid (calamari) was "best we've ever had" per our two, well-traveled teenage boys, the complimentary bread was really fresh, and the overall food quality was high. Portions on the entree specials were a bit small, perhaps owing to the high cost of fresh seafood...my $21GBP "fricasse of seafood with scallop" had just one medium sized prawn and one open shell scallop so I ended up having to order several more tapas. Overall a solid choice.

We were shown to a table by the waiter in the furthest away corner of the large room and when asked for a child`s menu were told that "we don`t do child menus, but you could have tapas".
We ordered some drinks and looked over the menu but started to get an uneasy feeling when our drinks arrived as the waitress was quite rude, when she finally returned to take an order we had decided by that time to just pay for the drinks and leave. When we told her this she just said okay and walked away, no effort what so ever was made to ask why.
The bill for the drinks was not forthcoming so we got up and went to the door to pay only for the waiter to ask if everything was okay and when I asked him for the bill he then handed it to me !
With an attitude like this they do not deserve our custom and in this current climate can they afford to turn away business.

Initially very surprised on entering the restaurant as the lights were so bright that it ruined any chance of a lovely atmosphere in what is a beautiful building.
After... read more being seated we waited for almost 20 minutes before the waiter came to take our drinks order. I told him we were ready to order food and he said he would have to go and check with the chef. I’m not sure what he had to check or why he had to check before we ordered as it was very quiet.
He disappeared and a waitress turned up shortly afterwards and took our order.
Our starters appeared promptly. My squid was covered in what can only be described as flour and water paste that was fried. It was very bland. My girlfriend had the scallops which were good.
The mains were not great. My crispy halibut was tiny and the chips were truly terrible. Think soggy palid school dinner chips. The side dish of chard was lovely but overall the meal was poor.
My girlfriend’s cod curry with rice looked like a plate of dog sick and had a massive bone in it which was unexpected and she wouldn’t have chosen it if she had known it was served like this. I ended up swapping with her. It tasted ok but looked grim.
The service was terrible with the exception of the guy that brought the drinks who was very efficient. But he wasn’t taking the drink orders so we were sat drinking water for half the time.
It’s such a shame because it could be really good. Sort out the lighting. Lose the awful pink walls and develop some cohesion with the waiting staff. They were all friendly but not very good at selling food and drinks.
On the plus side the fish was all fresh and it’s very reasonably priced.

However the interior is very disappointing firstly the lighting is glaring and way too bright and does nothing to encourage an intimate evening! However the fish and chips which one would hope would almost be a signature dish of a reputable fish restaurant was very disappointing the haddock was OK but it was overcooked and the chips were of the bought in catering type and were pale and soggy. Why not do proper twice cooked chips! Very limited dessert choice including a rather strange deep fried brownie. Overall very disappointing.
